This position is responsible for coordinating the delivery and implementation of key projects and business improvement activities across the Finance and Procurement division to deliver enhanced ways of working, optimised processes, and smart digital solutions that underpin the delivery of Finance and Procurement services across the University. The position will identify and prioritise key deliverables and provide high-level administration to support the priorities of the division.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance finance and procurement processes and systems and ensure the effective functioning of the division.
  • Distilling core issues from complex information, drawing accurate conclusions and condensing complex information and next steps into simple concise terms that others can understand.
  • Planning and prioritising work and critical activities appropriately and recognise barriers to achieving outcomes, find effective ways to deal with them and evaluate progress.
  • Promoting technical solutions to modernise work practices and ensure alignment with Deakin’s strategic direction.
  • Drawing on a diverse range of people, groups and resources to identify new or improved opportunities, processes and ways of doing things to enhance organisational strategy.
  • Communicating with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding and support.
  • Acting as a coach and working with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback considering individual capability and team performance.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or board knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement of processes.
  • Experience implementing digital solutions or project management.
  • Experience gathering, documenting and managing user requirements.
